I have a lot of respect for law enforcement in all its forms. Most are dedicated, honest people who truly seek to “Protect and Serve.”
But I have a strong objection to the Massachusetts State Police Uniforms. Not the State Patrol’s Mounties style uniforms, but the street version uniform.
When I see these guys, the first thing I think of is “Nazis.” The uniform conjures up disturbing historical images, and sends a very strong, very wrong message to the public.
Please, gentlemen, we want to respect and trust you, but not when you dress like Der Führer.
Now go tell that to the Italians about their military police the carabinieri and see how they react. Both US state police and the Italian military police uniform predates the Nazis and the Nazis are already over. So there's nothing that they need to change.
